This not-for-profit is a membership organization exclusively focused on providing global leadership for the optimal use of healthcare information technology and management systems for the betterment of healthcare. The Society has seen rapid growth over the past ten years -- expanding from $5M to $50M in revenue, from 23 to 190 staff, and from providing just an annual conference and minimal products to the US membership to extensive products and services offered globally. The leadership has become far more strategic and business oriented, industry experts have been hired and content expanded significantly, the culture has been transformed, and the organization is making inroads in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Growth is expected to continue – by further penetrating the North American healthcare IT industry; expanding into new areas as the industry evolves and expands; and taking the mission globally.
The Vice President, Marketing is a member of the Senior Management team and plays a critical role in positioning the organization as a world leader in driving change in the healthcare information and management systems field. Specifically, the VP will play a part in a majority of the strategic initiatives while building a strong marketing function for the organization. The Vice President, Marketing is responsible for providing a wide range of marketing activities, sharing in accountability for achieving revenue goals. Responsibilities include identifying new product opportunities and audiences, driving new product development, providing strategic guidance to product lines, branding, and developing marketing plans. It is a critical role that works across the entire organization to drive the success of programs, products and services delivered to a broad audience including individual members, corporate members, vendor members and sponsors, legislators, and policymakers.
The candidate must have excellent marketing discipline and held roles that required both strategic leadership and effective execution. That leadership has to include moving the marketing organization to a new level of operating in and contributing to the company. Experience in healthcare with an understanding of how a hospital operates is preferred. The candidate will have managed a small staff. Having worked for an organization whose market is highly complex with competing/ onflicting needs and interests is important.
